Just in Time

Another adventure for Father Christmas. The preparations for Christmas have taken their toll on Father Christmas and he is worn out. He has had so many important jobs to do: - there were visits from all the major toymakers, anxious to show him their latest and best inventions, there were the undercover trips to department stores to see what was being sold this year, there were the training sessions for all the 'shop santas' to make sure they were up to scratch.

So Mrs Christmas insists he has some rest before setting off on his most important task of all - the Christmas Delivery. She is so determined he will not be disturbed, she decides to lock the door to his room. Unfortunately, she misplaces the key, and, when it is time for Father Christmas to set off, he is trapped in his room, fast asleep. Christmas is saved by a mouse and a moth who combine to wake Santa and get him out.

A charming story for young children to act out. Narrators carry the bulk of the story. Father and Mrs Christmas have plenty to remember, but the rest are all one or two liners, and there are loads of opportunities for dressing up and movement. With four original and easy to learn songs, this play is guaranteed to please audience and performers alike.

Comments

Another play - another triumph! Everybody, and I mean everybody was impressed - and who wouldn't be by such a magnificent performance by a group of Pre-Primary students. For Father Christmas and Mary Christmas to learn so many words was a tremendous feat. And there were children who had to be talked into giving speaking parts and go and truly believed they couldn't do it. It was wonderful to see them blossom and deliver their lines with confidence and enjoyment. A good time was had by all! A grandparent who was in the audience and has worked in early childhood for many years said that she has seen dozens of Pre-Primary concerts and that ours was the best that she has ever seen.
Keep writing your terrific plays so that we can keep performing them.
